Replacing legacy back-office monoliths
Co-built the platform that replaced Blocket's legacy back-office monoliths, delivered on budget within two years and later adopted as the standard across Vend's marketplaces.
The challenge
Blocket's customer service ran on aging monoliths. The support experience had to improve for staff and customers alike, and the old systems had to be retired without disrupting day-to-day operations.
What we built
Co-built the replacement platform and a central internal product for customer service. Designed event-driven data flows on Kafka to keep search indexes current, and built performant GraphQL APIs and microservices behind a backend-for-frontend with caching. Added automated end-to-end testing to the delivery pipeline so the migration could keep a steady pace.
The result
The legacy monoliths were decommissioned within two years and on budget. The new platform was later selected as the standard for all marketplace brands within Vend.
